Strict test mode

Strict test mode is for a test where you want to know that students stayed on the test. Switch it on with Switch on on the Strict test mode card of the batch, and off the same way. It applies to every paper of the batch's test series, from the next thing each student does.

What it does for a student of the batch:

  • The website runs the test in full screen; the Android app locks itself to the screen.
  • Leaving the test (another tab, window or app, out of full screen, unlocking the screen), and trying to copy, paste or print, covers the questions with a warning and is recorded.
  • The test opens in one window on one device only.

What you see:

  • A notification at a student's first incident in a paper, and another with the total when the paper is handed in. Each opens the paper.
  • On a student's page, an Incidents column beside each paper. View incidents opens a paper that is still being taken.
  • On the paper, every incident with its time, above the answers.

Note: Strict mode warns and records; it never ends a test or changes a score. It shows what the browser or app could see. It cannot tell why a student left, and it cannot see a second phone or someone helping in the room. For a test that matters, have students take it in class and use the incident list as a second check. Tell students and parents beforehand that the mode is on.
