Teachers and myedubuddy remove content that breaks this Code. Breaches can lead to muting, removal from a classroom, or suspension or closure of the account, and unlawful content may be reported to the authorities. This summary is here to help; the full text below is what applies.
1. About this Code
1.1 This Code of Conduct (“Code”) sets out how everyone must behave in myedubuddy classrooms, the private spaces in which a coaching institute's teachers and students share posts, notes, homework, quizzes, messages and calendar dates on the myedubuddy website and app (the “Service”).
1.2 It applies to every student, teacher and classroom administrator, and to everything they write or upload: posts, messages, comments, homework and its notes, files and photos, and the name shown on their account.
1.3 This Code forms part of the myedubuddy Terms of Use and should be read with the Privacy Policy. It is published by Anveshak Technology & Knowledge Solutions, which operates the Service (“we”, “us”). It sets out the rules and the content users must not share, as the Information Technology Act, 2000, and the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, require us to tell users.
1.4 Where this Code and the Terms of Use differ, the Terms of Use prevail.
2. Our purpose
2.1 myedubuddy exists to help students learn. A classroom is an extension of the institute's classroom, and the same standards of courtesy, discipline and safety apply as in a physical class.
2.2 Most students on myedubuddy are children. Everyone, adults especially, must act with the care that this requires.
3. Expected conduct
Everyone in a classroom must:
- communicate courteously and respectfully with teachers and fellow students;
- keep messages and posts relevant to the lessons, homework and activities of the class;
- submit only their own work, and share only material they have the right to share;
- respect the privacy of others and keep personal information private;
- follow the reasonable instructions of the teachers of their batch;
- report content or behaviour that breaks this Code.
4. Prohibited content and conduct
No one may write, upload, share or display, in any language or script, including in disguised or abbreviated form, content that:
- is abusive or offensive: profane, vulgar, obscene or insulting language, gestures or images;
- is hateful or discriminatory: insults, demeans or incites hostility against any person or group on the grounds of religion, caste, gender, race, ethnicity, community, region, language, disability, appearance or any similar characteristic;
- harasses or bullies: threatens, intimidates, stalks, shames, mocks or humiliates anyone, or encourages others to do so;
- is sexual or harmful to children: is sexually explicit or suggestive, invades a person's bodily privacy, or is otherwise unsuitable for or harmful to children;
- promotes violence or harm: glorifies or encourages violence, self-harm, substance abuse or dangerous acts;
- is false or deceptive: spreads information known to be false or misleading, rumours, or impersonates another person, a teacher, an institute or myedubuddy;
- exposes personal information: shares anyone's phone number, address, email, social media account, location or photographs without their consent;
- infringes the rights of others: uses material protected by copyright, trademark or other rights without permission;
- undermines academic integrity: shares questions or answers of papers or quizzes, hands in another person's work as one's own, or helps others to cheat;
- is commercial or spam: advertises, promotes products, services or other platforms, or sends chain messages, forwards or unrelated links;
- compromises security: contains viruses or harmful code, or attempts to access another person's account or data;
- is unlawful: breaks any law in force in India, or threatens the unity, integrity, defence, security or sovereignty of India, friendly relations with other countries, or public order.
5. Safety of children
5.1 Teachers and classroom administrators are in a position of trust. They must:
- communicate with students on myedubuddy only about the class, and only within the classroom;
- not ask students for personal contact details, private conversations or meetings through the Service;
- obtain the consent of a parent or guardian before sharing any photograph or video that shows a student;
- add to a batch only students whose parent or guardian has agreed to their use of the Service.
5.2 Anyone who believes a child is at risk should report it at once, using Report or by writing to the Grievance Officer (section 7). Content that endangers a child is removed immediately and reported to the authorities where the law requires, including under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
6. Responsibilities of teachers and classroom administrators
Teachers and classroom administrators must:
- apply this Code fairly and consistently in their batches, and remove content that breaks it promptly;
- use students' information only for teaching that batch, as described in the Privacy Policy;
- share only teaching material they have the right to use;
- inform myedubuddy of serious breaches, including anything unlawful or any risk to a child.
7. Reporting a concern
7.1 Every post and message has a Report option. A report goes to the teachers of the batch and is recorded by myedubuddy. The person reported is not told who reported them.
7.2 Concerns may also be sent to our Grievance Officer, Shashank Thakur, at admin@myedubuddy.com or on WhatsApp +91 82083 28061, with a description of the content, where it appeared and why it is a concern.
7.3 We acknowledge a complaint within 24 hours and aim to resolve it within 15 days. Content that shows a person in a sexual or intimate way, or that impersonates someone, is removed or blocked within 24 hours of the complaint.
8. Enforcement
8.1 Prevention. The Service checks messages and posts for offensive language before they are published, and may decline to publish content that appears to break this Code. This check cannot catch everything; reporting remains essential.
8.2 Measures. Depending on how serious the breach is and whether it is repeated, teachers, classroom administrators or myedubuddy may take one or more of these measures:
- remove the content;
- warn the person concerned;
- mute the person in a batch, so that they can read and study but not write;
- remove the person from a batch or classroom;
- suspend the account, or close it.
8.3 Serious breaches. Threats, sexual content, content that endangers a child, and other unlawful content may lead to immediate suspension without warning, and may be reported to law enforcement authorities.
8.4 Records. We keep records of reports, removed content and the measures taken for as long as the law requires, and may share them with authorities when the law requires it.
8.5 Parents and institutes. For students, the institute may inform the student's parent or guardian of a breach.
9. Review of a decision
9.1 Anyone who believes content was removed or a measure was taken in error may ask for a review by writing to the Grievance Officer within 15 days, explaining why.
9.2 We review the request and reply with our decision and the reasons within 15 days.
10. Acceptance and changes
10.1 Students and teachers accept this Code before they first write in a classroom. For a student under 18, the parent or guardian who agreed to the Terms of Use also agrees to this Code on the student's behalf.
10.2 We may update this Code. When we make a significant change, we ask everyone to accept the new version before they write again. The date of the current version is shown at the top of this page.
